Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Nut Filling: Grind the nuts into a fine paste. Mix with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and optional jam or honey. Set aside.
  • Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the flour and knead until smooth and elastic.
  • Rest the Dough: Cover the dough with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let it rest for 2 hours.
  • Roll and Shape: Divide the dough into small balls and roll out into thin sheets. Spread the nut filling evenly over the dough. Roll up the dough and cut into slices.
  • Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Cool and Store: Let the cookies cool on a wire rack. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
