Ingredients
  

Muffins:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

Preheat & Prepare

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper liners.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Cream Butter & Sugar

  • In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs & Vanilla

  • Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  • Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients
  • Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing until just combined.

Fill Muffin Cups & Bake

  • Fill each muffin cup 2/3 full. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Prepare Coating

  • Melt butter in one bowl. In another, mix sugar and cinnamon.

Coat Muffins

  • While warm, brush muffins with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar.

Cool & Enjoy

  • Let muffins cool on a wire rack before serving.
