Ingredients
  

For the Banana Bread Base:

  • 3 large ripe bananas about 1½ cups mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted & slightly cooled
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • tsp pure vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup buttermilk or sour cream

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour

Optional Topping:

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar + ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions
 

1️⃣ Prepare Your Kitchen:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper and lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.

2️⃣ Make the Banana Bread Batter:

  • Mash bananas in a large bowl until smooth with some small lumps.
  • Whisk in melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk or sour cream. Do not overmix.

3️⃣ Make the Cinnamon Swirl & Layer the Batter:

  • In a small bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, melted butter, and flour until it forms a thick paste.
  • Pour half the banana bread batter into the loaf pan.
  • Spoon or sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter.
  • Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon mixture.
  • Swirl gently with a butter knife to create a marbled effect.

4️⃣ Bake & Cool:

  • If using, sprinkle cinnamon-sugar topping over the batter.
  • Bake for 55-65 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool for 1 hour.

Notes

  • Make it nutty: Add ¾ cup chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • Chocolate twist: Fold in ⅔ cup chocolate chips.
  • Fall-inspired: Swap ½ cup banana for pumpkin puree & add pumpkin spice.
  • Cream Cheese Swirl: Layer a sweetened cream cheese mixture between the batter.
  • Apple Cinnamon Banana Bread: Stir in ¾ cup diced apples.
