Ingredients
  

For the Sandwich:

  • 1 large Muffuletta round bread 10-12 inches, sesame-topped
  • ¼ lb Genoa salami
  • ¼ lb mortadella
  • ¼ lb ham
  • ¼ lb capicola
  • ¼ lb provolone cheese

For the Olive Salad:

  • ½ cup green olives chopped
  • ½ cup Kalamata olives chopped
  • ¼ cup pickled vegetables chopped
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 1 tbsp pepperoncini chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar

Instructions
 

Prepare the Olive Salad:

  • Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  • Let marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour (overnight for best flavor).

Prepare the Bread:

  • Slice the Muffuletta bread in half horizontally.

Layer the Ingredients:

  • Spread ½ of the olive salad on the bottom half.
  • Add cheese first, then layer meats evenly.
  • Top with the remaining olive salad.

Press & Rest the Sandwich:

  • Place the top half of the bread back on.
  • Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap.
  • Press with a heavy skillet and let sit for 30-60 minutes.

Slice & Serve:

  • Cut into quarters or eighths.
  • Serve at room temperature.

Notes

  • Olive salad improves with time, so prep it ahead.
  • Use crusty bread to prevent sogginess.
  • For a warm version: Toast in a skillet for a crispier texture.
