Ingredients
  

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

For the Apple Mixture:

  • 2 medium apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled and diced
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:

  • cup brown sugar
  • For the Glaze
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare the Apple Mixture:

  • Toss diced apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.

Make the Batter:

  • Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with sour cream.

Assemble the Bread:

  • Pour half of the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  • Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture and half of the apples over the batter.
  • Repeat with remaining batter, cinnamon sugar, and apples.
  • Swirl slightly with a knife.

Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool & Glaze (Optional):

  • Let bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  • Drizzle with glaze before serving.

Notes

  • Make it ahead: Freezes well for up to 3 months.
  • For a crunchier texture: Add chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • Gluten-free adaptation: Use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
  • Healthier version: Reduce sugar, use whole wheat flour, or swap in applesauce for butter.
