Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl

Ingredients

Creamy Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 cups milk 2% or whole preferred
  • 2 packages 3.9 oz each instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 12 oz Cool Whip or whipped topping thawed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Dirt Component

  • 24 Oreo cookies crushed
  • 12 additional Oreo cookies for decoration optional

Fun Accessories

  • 1 package gummy worms
  • Fresh mint sprigs optional
  • Themed decorations toy garden tools, flowers, candy spiders, etc.

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cookie "Dirt"

  • Crush 24 Oreos into fine crumbs using a food processor or by sealing them in a plastic bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Set aside 1/4 cup for topping.

Step 2: Make the Cream Cheese Mixture

  • Beat softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth and fluffy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until well combined.
  • Stir in vanilla extract.

Step 3: Prepare the Chocolate Pudding

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.

Step 4: Combine the Mixtures

  • Gently fold the pudding into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Fold in Cool Whip until well combined.

Step 5: Assemble the Layers

  • In a serving dish, layer 1/3 of the crushed Oreos, followed by 1/2 of the cream mixture. Repeat layers, ending with crushed Oreos on top.

Step 6: Decorate & Chill

  • Sprinkle reserved Oreo crumbs for a realistic “dirt” effect.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
  • Before serving, garnish with gummy worms and optional decorations.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead: Best when chilled overnight, but can be made up to 2 days in advance.
  • Variations: Use Mint Oreos, Peanut Butter Oreos, or Golden Oreos for fun twists.
  • Dairy-Free: Swap out dairy ingredients for plant-based alternatives.
  • Storage: Keep refrigerated for up to 5 days.
