Simple Toasted Italian Sandwich Recipe
A crispy, golden-brown toasted Italian sandwich that’s packed with layers of savory meats, melty cheese, and tangy vegetables!

- 1 Italian ciabatta or rustic bread sliced in half
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3 slices Prosciutto di Parma
- 3 slices Genoa salami
- 2 slices mortadella
- 3 slices fresh mozzarella patted dry
- 2 slices provolone cheese
- ½ roasted red pepper patted dry and sliced
- ¼ cup fresh arugula
- ¼ red onion thinly sliced
- 4 fresh basil leaves torn
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp red wine vinegar
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Build the Base Layer
Layer prosciutto, salami, and mortadella on the bottom half.
Drizzle lightly with red wine vinegar and season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add Cheese and Vegetables
Layer provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, red onion slices, and fresh mozzarella.
Finish with fresh basil leaves.
Toast the Sandwich
Close the sandwich and press lightly.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich inside.
Press down with a heavy pan and toast for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
Flip and toast for another 3-4 minutes.
